Over the last 10 years there have been a number of new economy trade show display options that have found their way onto the market. Exhibitors see a very large price difference among banner stands, counters and pop-up displays. Prices on 33.5" banner stands with graphics can range from $299 to $799. Over the last 10 years, there have been a number of new economy trade show display options that have found their way onto the market. Exhibitors will see a very large price difference among banner stands, counters and pop-up displays. Prices on 33.5" banner stands with graphics can range from $299 to $799. Today, I wanted to go over some of the reasons that these price differences exist and give you some ideas for making sure that you get the best display value available....
First, lets begin with pop-up displays. The first range of pop-ups are the import brands. You can find 10' pop-up display packages that includes frame, fabric panels, lights and wheeled case for around $699. These packages are often imports that do not feature the quality of most other units. The cases are very unreliable and most of the frames are actually larger than 10'. Unless you need one of these for a one time use, I would recommend steering clear of these ultra discount units. The next big difference is between the mid-range pop-ups found on the internet that range from $1395 - $1995 and the big name brand units that can range from $3200 - $4000. Some of the mid-range internet brands are better than others, but you are more likely to find value purchasing one of these products than the grossly overpriced name brand units. Unless you need internal shelf kits or other higher end accessories, I would recommend you stick with the mid-range internet brands for your pop-up needs. When shopping for a pop-up display on the internet, make sure you get a good idea of the quality of hub construction, channel bars and casing.
When you are shopping for retractable banner stands, there are a number of factors to consider. First, the quality of the retractable hardware itself is very important. Many of the discount brands simply won't hold up for long term use. Your hardware will fail and you will end up having to throw the whole thing away on the show floor because you can't get it back in its base. Your requirements for your graphic prints will drive your buying decision as well. Some of the discount banner stands are printed on economy vinyl materials that do not allow you to match specific colors accurately. If you are particular about your color, make sure you select a product that can meet your needs.
The bottom line is there are times when economy solutions will work for your short term projects, but don't make your decision based on price alone. When it comes to trade show displays, value is the key word.
