How Do You Handle the Guy That Steals Your Mojo?

Today, I'm bringing a question to you.  We recently exhibited at the TS2 show in Philadelphia and we had one of the biggest challenges in trade show marketing sitting right across from our booth.  You know what I'm talking about.  You've done all the work necessary to prepare for your show.  You developed a great theme, a beautiful trade show display, and sent an enticing pre-show mailer.  Your prospects are excited and ready to visit your booth.  Only one problem, the guy across from you is so obnoxious your prospects wouldn't come near your booth even if you were giving away $100 bills.

This guy was unbelievable, he was standing in the middle of the aisle with flashing red lights around his neck scanning badges as folks tried to sneak by him.  We did ok for portions of the show, especially after he left but it was a challenge.  This is one of the times, where I don't have any ideas or answers for you.  I need your help.  What do you do when your exhibiting neighbor is sucking the air right off the show floor?

Software Tools to Manage Your Event Marketing Programs

I wanted to revisit TS2 a little bit.  For those of you that attend multiple trade shows or hold a significant number of marketing events, you might want to consider checking out a software program called Exhibit Force.  This web-based application will help you to better plan, organize and execute your event marketing programs.  I have always been impressed by their product and would recommend checking it out.

Back From TS2 Trade Show

Hello everyone!  Sorry that I have not posted since last week. I have been at the TS2 Total Marketing Solutions trade show in Philadelphia since Monday.  Displayit.com was exhibiting and it was a great week.  Below is a picture of our display.  We used the new 10' XR Line trade show booth.  The display got great reviews, especially the wave canopy.  I think it really stood out as the best looking 10' x 10' display at the show.  I've also included a picture of the booth packed up after the show.  The display is packed in the two black cases and our modular flooring is in the grey case.  We had the flooring and display set up in about 45-50 minutes.  The show closed at 3PM and we were walking out the door at 4:15PM, much of that time was spent waiting on our cases to return from storage. We also raised money for some of our favorite charities.  We raised $1,130 ($750 for American Cancer Society, $270 Habitat for Humanity, and $110 for our local friends at Amigos for Christ).  I'm planning on posting more this week and weekend about the things I saw at the show.  I simply wanted to brag on our display and share some pics.

The Importance of Authenticity at Trade Shows

Last month I talked about the importance of bringing passion to your trade show events.  Today I came across a great article by Jim Gilmore in Corporate EVENT Magazine called Authenticity: The Essential New Event Currency. The article talks about how consumers want to do business with companies they can believe in and how events can make them believe in a company.  I consider it required reading as you get ready for your weekend.

Show Promotions that Make a Difference

One of the most challenging tasks for a trade show marketer is coming upSpinthewheel_5x7_3 with good ideas for show promotions.  The goal is to select a promotion or giveaway that will bring traffic to your booth and keep attendees thinking about your company and brand after the show.  At Displayit, our company mission is to be a blessing to all those we come in contact with: Clients, Vendors, our fellow team members, and our community.  Over the last two years, we have worked these values into our trade show promotion and the result has been a powerful, effective show promotion...

Bring Passion to Your Trade Shows

We've talked a little bit in the last few days about planning for our trade show marketing events.  We haven't gotten into nuts and bolts planning tasks such as creating new exhibits, planning pre-show mailers, and filling out show forms.  We have been talking about looking at our organizations and our events to figure out where we fit in.  This is critical so that we understand what message we need to bring.  The final piece of this puzzle is really all about passion.

Which Personality am I Taking to Our Upcoming Trade Show?

Our trade show display company attends two shows each year.  Our primary show is called Exhibitor, which takes place in Las Vegas, NV each year.  The show is really the primary show for trade show designers and producers, trade show graphic companies and a host of other organizations that supply the trade show marketing industry.  We made the decision to attend this show for the first time in the Spring of 2006.  It was a unique decision as we were really the first company of our type in the industry to exhibit at the show.  As we prepared to attend the show, we really had to answer the question I brought up yesterday:  "Who are we and why are we here?"

Finally a Festivus for the Rest of Us

Welcome to the new trade show marketing blog for displayit.com.  We have been thinking about getting our blog going for many months now (really years) but we have been slow to the party.  We knew it was something we should be doing but I just didn't have a great feel for what we would blog about.  Blog_festivus I didn't want to create just another blog to drive traffic. If we were going to blog, we wanted to create something that people would find useful and valuable.  We think we've finally discovered something that we can be passionate about.
